The purpose of this research is to investigate the positive and negative impacts of volcanic activities to us today.
A volcano is a mountain that opens downward to a pool of molten rock below the surface of the earth. When pressure builds up, eruptions occurs.
Volcanoes are usually located where tectonic plates meet. This is especially true for the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area around the Pacific Ocean where over 75% of the volcanoes on Earth are found

Positive and Negative Sides of Volcanic Activities
Positive Sides/Impacts
The dramatic scenery created by volcanic eruptions attracts tourists. This brings income to an area.
The lava and ash deposited during an eruption breaks down to provide valuable nutrients for the soil. This creates very fertile soil which is good for future planting of different vegetables or other plants.
Steam released during an eruption could be utilized to move the turbine therefore producing energy. Countries like Indonesia (which contains many volcanoes) are using this form of renewable energy when their active volcanoes erupt. This is called Geothermal Energy.
As a fact, tourists come into different countries just to see a volcano, disregarding if it's active of extincted, therefore bringing more income.
Negative sides/ impact
Man made and natural landscapes can be destroyed and changed forever.
If the ash and mud from a volcanic eruption mix with rain water or melting snow, fast moving mudflows are created. It can also trigger flash floods, and rock fall
Many lives can be lost as a result of a volcanic eruption.
Fun Facts
The tallest volcano in the Solar System isn’t on Earth, but on Mars. Olympus Mons, is a volcano that rises to an elevation of 27 km, and it measures about 550 km across. Scientists think that Olympus Mons was able to get so large because there aren’t any plate tectonics on Mars. A single hot spot was able to bubble away for billions of years, building the volcano up bigger and bigger.
It is estimated that around 80% of the Earth’s surface, above and below sea-level, originated because of volcanic activity. The magma, molten rock, and debris from volcanic eruptions have formed some major landforms like islands, mountains, plateaus, and plains.
