Rohypnol is mainly categorized as sedative and depressant.
A group of drugs that depress the activities of the central nervous system.
symptoms starting from restlessness and insomnia to convulsions and death. Some sedatives can cause physiological and psychological dependence when taken regularly over a period of time

: Lowers or depresses arousal levels and reduces excitability.
effects often include ataxia, anxiolysis, pain relief, sedation or somnolence, and cognitive/memory impairment, as well as in some instances euphoria, dissociation, muscle relaxation, lowered blood pressure or heart rate, respiratory depression, and anti convulsant effects, and even complete anesthesia or death at high doses.

How is it used? Is it legal or illegal?
Rohypnol is not legally available for prescription in the United States, but is legal in 60 countries worldwide for treatment of insomnia
Rohypnol is typically taken orally in pill form. However some reports, have shown that Rohypnol is being ground up and snorted. It can be mixed into drinks.
This drug is shipped in bubble packaging or blister packs that appear very similar to aspirin. They are typically white in color, although counterfeit products have appeared in brownish-pink tint.
What does it look like?
Rohypnol is created in laboraries and was first manufactured by Hoffman-La Roche
t is fairly rare in the UK (although rising), but in the US it has a street price of around $2-4 per tablet.

Withdrawal of rohypnol can lead to these symptoms:
Muscle pain
Tingling of Extremities
Delirium and Loss of Identity
Cardiovascular distress

Lifetime Rohypnol use by secondary school students in 1996 ranged from 1.5% among 8th and 10th graders to 1.2% among 12th graders (table 1). Current estimates of lifetime Rohypnol use range from 1.1% among 8th graders, to 1.5% among 10th graders, to 1.7% among 12th graders
55% of female and 75% of male students involved in acquaintances of rape have admitted to have been under the influence of rohypnol.
90% of all campus rapes occur when either the victim or the assailant has consumed rohypnol.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, two-thirds of the 18-25 year-old population abuse rohypnol.
In one survey of 53 women who used Rohypnol recreationally, 10% said they were physically or sexually assaulted while under its influence.
Rohypnol is a sedative at helps people to become sleepy. So some people may use it as a sleeping pill.
Also rohypnol reduces anxiety or stress while depressing your central nervous system.
Some people use it to relieve stress.


Rohypnol is used for the treatment of insomnia and as a pre-anesthetic.
Rohypnol is illegal unless it is prescribed.
Its illegal possession, use and sale carry heavy prison sentences(14years) and fines.
There have been many abuses of rohypnol, one example is sexual assult.
