By: Juana Carreno What are Oil Spills? What Causes Oil Spills? Where are oil spills more dangerous
in land or in water? How do Oil Spills Affect the Environment? My Solutions: Oil spills are caused by an oil tank or the pipeline, that breaks and then leaks oil into the water. The answer to this question is water. Water is the worst because is the most abundant and destructive place. Oil spills affect the environment because it dirties the water and kills fishes, and other animals that live in the water and on the land. How to prevent oil spills? Oil Spills An oil spill is a release of petroleum into the environment that are caused by humans and forces. An oil spill is also a type of pollution in the environment. Oil spills are caused by a ship crashing into a rock, iceberg, and explosions. Oil spills can also be caused by dumping oil in land which eventually, the oil runs off into the water. Also a hurricane, earthquake and some other forces can cause an oil spill to happen. Oil spills also destroy the animal's habitat for those who live in water and land. Oil spills can also pollute our coastal areas. It affects animals like: Killer Whales
Types of fishes
Marine Animals Also oil spills in land can be harder to clean than in water. Seventy percent of the world is water, and some of this water is covered with land masses. What Kinds of Pollutions can Oil Spills Cause? The kinds of pollutions that oil spills cause: Water Pollution Soil Pollution One solution is to use more airplanes to transport people and technology instead of using ships. Another solution can be to limit the age of the captain that way you'll have less chance of oil spills. Others Solutions: Other people think that a solution for this is to be more careful not to spill oil the first time. Another solution that people have is the blowout preventers. This will cut off the pump pressure in case of an accident.
