Germany leads world - US 20th.
In terms of total solar power capacity per capita

Solar power country leaders per capita are almost entirely European countries.
The only others in the top 20 are Australia (#8), Japan (#14), Israel (#17), US (#20).
Some Facts

Future Solar solutions
Step 1
Step 2
Electrons (negatively charged) are knocked loose from their atoms, causing an electric potential difference. Current starts flowing through the material to cancel the potential and this electricity is captured. Due to the special composition of solar cells, the electrons are only allowed to move in a single direction.

Step 1: Photons in sunlight hit the solar panel and are absorbed by semiconducting materials, such as silicon.
Step 3
An array of solar cells converts solar energy into a usable amount of direct current (DC) electricity.

Do we have time for a short clip?

The massive potential of solar energy is almost too hard to grasp, which is why harnessing this Sun’s energy for useful purposes has sparked the interest of many scientists for thousands of years. Later I will introduce the consists of a timeline over milestone historic events around human’s efforts to extract solar energy.

Solar Energy; how it all began?
Solar Car
The world's first solar-powered family car that can travel 420 miles on a sunny day and creates TWICE as much energy as it uses
The car - called Stella - is also world's first 'energy positive' car
It can seat four and travel twice as far as an electric car before recharging
It weighs a mere 380kg, 1120kg lighter than the average electrical car

Dutch students have created the world's first 'energy positive' car, which means it produces more energy than it uses. It can also seat a family of four
