By Matt Calapatia, Elias Ku, Martyn Megaloudis, and Muiz Qadeer Thirty Years' War Who was fighting who? Attack! Who Was Involved Over time, France, the Netherlands, Sweden and all the German Protestant states were fighting against the Habsburg Emperor and Spain (which was Catholic) The Thirty years world started in 1618. It took place mainly in Central Europe in what is now Germany. A visual representation of the war: Many regions in and around Germany were impacted by Protestantism as well. The Habsburg Empire won a battle and demanded that everyone followed Catholicism, but the Protestants refused to. The Thirty Years war completely destroyed Germany. The many years of fighting (thirty to be exact) destroyed much of the land that Germany is today. The war also destroyed Germany as a country. It's people were split and bitter then ever. Germany also was split into many territories. In the end the Thirty Years world completely devastated Germany, becoming one of the most violent wars Europe experienced since the Crusades. Even though all of these countries were taking, most of the fighting was contained in Germany. Because of this, many innocent Germans were robbed and killed in their own homes. Many communities were destroyed. The Spanish (Catholics) attacked the French (Protestants) CharlieIsSoCoolLike The war became a civil war between the armies of the Catholic Emperor on one side and the Luterans and the Calvinists on other side The Thirty Years war completely destroyed Germany. The many years of fighting (thirty to be exact) destroyed much of the land that Germany is today. The war also destroyed Germany as a country. It's people were split and bitter then ever. Germany also was split into many territories. In the end the Thirty Years War completely devastated Germany, becoming one of the most violent wars Europe experienced since the Crusades. Leekspin :3 The fighting was not the only cause of death during the war. In fact, a lot of the deaths were caused by plagues and famine. These plagues and famine came about due to the rotting dead bodies in the streets.
