Deforestation in our world
By: Big C, and Zachary Loyd
Causes of Deforestation in
the United States of America
Many people living in highly forested areas are approached by loggers wanting to buy logging rights to their land even if they don't have that much acreage.
Homeowners like to have their forests deforested because it clears their land and gives them opportunity to sell land for developers to build housing complexes.
Money
Farmers also appreciate their land being cleared for farming purposes and growing grasses for cattle grazing.
Effects Of Deforestation In the World
Climate
Trees generate oxygen for our world, In response less trees means less oxygen which can create atmospheric changes.
Deforestation and the cutting down trees destroys Habitats, this results in animals moving to other ecosystems and eventual over population of another ecosystem
Deforestation Throughout the world
Definition:

Deforestation, clearance or clearing is the removal of a forest or stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non-forest use.
Deforestation takes place all over the world and is the process of cutting down trees for purposes of farming ranches or urbanization. This takes place in almost every vast forest in our world including forests in America, Brazil, and Throughout Europe.
Global Warming Is increasing because the trees which absorb carbon in the air are decreasing meaning more carbon in the air creating more of a carbon foot print.
Organisms
Causes of deforestation in the Amazon Rain Forest
Deforestation in the Amazon is caused by many factors.
Cattle ranching in the amazon is the leading cause about 65-70% of deforestation in this area is caused by this.

Small scale subsistence agriculture; farming that provides for the farm family's needs with little surplus for marketing. 20-25% is caused by this.
Large scale commercial agriculture is the next biggest cause and is 5-10% of the causes.
Both illegal and legal logging are what take place next at a solid 2-3% of the deforestation of the amazon
Fires, mining, urbanization, road construction, dams Come in next as the last group of factors that cause deforestation in the amazon at 1-2%
Effects of Deforestation in Our World
Trees play an important part in the water cycle, grounding the water in their roots and releasing it into the atmosphere, so when trees are taken away the land becomes drier.
Without tree roots to anchor the soil and with increased exposure to sun, the soil can dry out, This results in the soil not being able to be used for farming and going to waste all together.
Soil erosion can also lead to silt entering the lakes, streams, and other water sources. This can decrease local water quality, contributing to poor health in the local population.
Seventy percent of the world’s plants and animals live in forests and are losing their habitats to deforestation. Loss of habitat can lead to species extinction. This is a problem considering majority of locals use the plants for medicine and animals for food
Importance of Protecting Forests from Deforestation

Easter island
Around 1100 CE a civilization took place on the Location of Easter Island. Shortly after around the 17 or 18 century the civilization ended. This is largely due to to deforestation.
During this time the inhabitants faced many problems with not having anymore trees.
First without large trees they were unable to create sea worthy ships and in turn were not able to fish which dramatically impacted their diets.
Without fish they were dependent on farming, but because deforestation dries out an environment farming didn't work as well because their was less rain.
Solutions to Deforestation in our World
Solutions to deforestation aren't plentiful but the few in existence will help lead to a deforestation free world.
The main solutions in our reach are...
passing laws to prohibit and stop it in our world
Having corporations turn into deforestation-free corporations
Having consumers only buy from deforestation-free businesses when it applies.
Replace or plant a new tree for every tree taken down in the future.
