happens? The Four Major Factors Evolution Genetics Lifestyles Spectacles EVOLUTION -Our eyes are constructed for far work.
-Traditionally a human lifestyle is that of a hunter, or farmer, who spend little time indoors. That is why our eyes in a relaxed state can see far, which is the state that it should be in most of the time. GENETICS -Genetics always plays a part in myopia development.
-It will make one more or less susceptible to myopia.
-Hence if both parents are myopic, there would be higher tendency for their children to be myopic.
-If parents have myopia of more than 600, the children are likely to be myopic -However, as human lifestyle moves more and more into the city, we spend most of time in door, and doing near work.
-As a result, their eyes are constantly in a tense state. A myopic eye is more suited for near work lifestyle as tense less than a non myopic eye when doing near work.
-The eye starts to evolve to suit a lifestyle of near work. LIFESTYLES A-INDOOR ACTIVITIES
-Our modern lifestyle is a major causes on our myopia.
-Our lifestyle constantly make us to read a book, watch TV, play computer games, play handheld games, writing and working on the computers. B-POOR DIET
-Lack of nutritious diet in daily life lead to insufficient rate of body development.
-While a diet which is high in carbohydrates, starches and sugars, and low in proteins and fats, favors the development of near-sightedness C-LACK EXERCISE
-Less exercise contributes to high unused glucose level, leads to higher insulin secretion.
-Excess blood insulin levels lead to greater eyeball growth and more myopia.
-Less time of eyes exposure to natural light and time spent looking at distant objects contribute to poor eyesight. (cc) image by nuonsolarteam on Flickr SPECTACLES -Some optometrist has observed that teenager prescribed with spectacles usually see a rapid increase immediately after. -The reason is that spectacles lock our ciliary muscles constantly. -In a tense state, eyes are forced in order to focus clearly on both near and distant object, thus increasing myopia progression. Myopia in teenagers are caused by:
-Evolution, to suit near work
-Genetics, from parents
-Lifestyles, indoor activities
