Completion of Exceptional Child Course
Susan has completed an approved program at Auburn University in Early Childhood Education. She has passed the GACE Early Childhood exam, the Ethics exam, and the edTPA. She also completed the exceptional child course as a part of her program. In addition, she completed her student teaching in Columbus, GA.
Requirements to obtain:
Recommendation from approved program OR OOS Certificate
GACE content exam passed at Induction level or higher
Passing score on Ethics exam (01/01/2015)
If no teaching experience, passing score on professional pedagogy exam
Exceptional child course is NOT required for initial certification
Jacob holds certification in Math from Tennessee. Because he anticipated moving to GA, he has passed the GACE Math exam. He has also passed the Ethics exam and has 2 years of teaching experience in TN.
Pathway 4
Those completing a non-traditional initial certification program in GA (replaces current NNT and GaTAPP certificates)
Requirements to obtain:
Bachelor's degree or higher, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
GACE content exam passed at Induction level or higher
Passing score on Ethics exam (01/01/2015)
Passing score on Program Admission Assessment (GACE Basic Skills) or exemption
Passing score on edTPA earned during the second full semester of the non-traditional certification program (01/01/2015)
Windy is interested in switching careers and would like to become a teacher. She has a Bachelor's and Master's degree and has passed the GACE Science exam at the Induction level.
Certificate of Eligibility
Effective 7/1/14, the GaPSC will no longer issue certificates to individuals not employed in a Georgia LUA.

Applicants eligible for certification by Pathways 1-3 will receive a Certificate of Eligibility. Upon employment, the LUA will request issuance of the Induction certificate.

Certificates of Eligibility will not be issued for Pathway 4
Supplemental Induction Certificate
Educators holding a valid Induction certificate are eligible for issuance of one or more Supplemental Induction certificate fields, at the request of the employing Georgia LUA, under the following circumstances:

Educators assigned to work in an endorsement field not covered by their base certificate field
Educators assigned to work in a teaching field not covered by their base certificate field

Pre-Service certificates will be issued for the first time and will be required for field experience and student teaching
Two GACE content assessment pass rates will become effective: Induction and Professional
Lead Professional certificate will be issued for the first time.
September 1, 2015
A passing score on the GaPSC-approved content pedagogy assessment will become a certification requirement for those with no teaching experience.
February 2014
TKES is being piloted in RT3 districts.
July 1, 2014
Induction and Standard Professional certificates will be issued for the first time. All valid Clear Renewable certificates will be converted to Standard Professional.
Technical Specialist (TS) certificate will be converted to Teaching certificates.
Employment will become a requirement for initial certification and renewal if the educator has not taught for a least one year in a GA school.
Out-of-state content assessments taken after this date will not be acceptable.
Statewide evaluation system will be implemented, to include TKES and LKES.
Out-of-state educators will need to have taught all of the last five years to exempt Special GA Requirements.
