Of Mice and Men Character Poems
Lennie Small Says:
They say I am a
giant
....George
says not only that, but I'm also
reliant
. They say my face
has no shape, I wonder what that
means
.
Don't blame me , I always forget
things
. George and I have
dreams
,
no, it's not to drink out of water
streams
,
but to have rabbits, I want to tend
rabbits. I have to be good or
George won't let me,
I will not forget... To tend them
rabbits
Curley Says :
Candy the Swamper Says :
My name is Candy
but they call me The Swamper. I am
old and aging. I felt I had
nothing to live for, after Carlson shot
my loyal sheep
dog
, but oh
God
did that
change.
After making plans for a farm
with George and Lennie, I finally had
a dream that was at
close range
.
I offered my life
savings
, in order to
satisfy my, and my friend's
cravings
.
Thank you

George Milton says :
I am small, but
quick
,
or
swift
, may I say?
I am sharp, smart, and let's not forget
slick
.
I go straight to the point,
and I don't
fool around
,
let's also remember that
Lennie, with me....Is
always s
afe and sound
.
You are big? You say?
O.K, then I see you as a
threat
,
and you
bet
, I will stand
my guard and I won't let no
one dominate me. As you may
remember, I once was a prize fighter. And, no, don't mind my glove or my
boots
,
because when it comes to opposing me, you won't even remember your own
roots
...I will always be
aggresive
, and I will, without a doubt, leave you
depressive
.
Curley's Wife Says :
I'm Curley's Wife, I flirt with guys around the ranch to make my husband jealous. Yes, I know they call me a 'tart' or "jailbait", but just because I wear some make up, paint my finger nails red, wear red shoes with ostrich feathers and flirt with guys around the ranch doesn't make me a tart.
Quote from Candy :
"Well-hell! I had him so long. Had him since he was a pup. I herded sheep with him." He said proudly, "You wouldn't think it to look at him now, but he was the best damn sheep dog I ever seen."
Quote from Lennie :
" An' live off the fatta the lan' "
Quote from George :
"We travel together," said George coldly.
Quote frm Curley :
"I’ll try to catch him," said Curley.
Quote from Curley's Wife :
"I tell you I ain't used to livin' like this. I coulda made somethin' of myself." She said darkly,
Slim says :
I am slim, I have more dignity than 100 men combined . I am tall, young and wise. I am the prince of the ranch, I am a jerk-line skinner capable of
driving up two twenty
mules in a single line.
I hold one of the highest
authorities within the
ranch and am dearly
respected by all, even by Curley.
Quote from Slim:
"He ain't mean," said Slim. "I can tell a mean guy from a mile off."
Crooks says :

I am Crooks, weird name you say?
No, I am not a criminal. I was named after I got a crooked back from a kick of a horse. I am the only african american man in the ranch, I have my own place in the barn with the ranch animals. I was once warned by Curley's wife that if she wanted to, she could have me lynched anytime, she 'put me in my place'. Interestingly enough, only Lennie didn't notice the color of my skin.
Quote from Crooks and the book :
Crooks scowled, but Lennie's disarming smile defeated him. "Come on in and set a while," Crooks said. "'Long as you won't get out and leave me alone, you might as well set down." His tone was a little more friendly.
Carlson Says :
I shot Candy's old sheep
dog, I could not bare the stench that dog let out, so I convinced Candy and shot the dog mercifully.
My luger didn't only work for that, let's not forget that George stole my Luger to kill Lennie later on.
