Winter: 0*C (32*F) -Grasslands have many names such as steppes, prairie and pampas.
-Temperste grassland plants include grasses and other flowering plants.
-A grassland that has scattered clumps of trees and seasonal rains is called a savanna
-Bison once raoamed North America temperate grasslands in great herds
-The grassland is coming endagered and its animals are too
-Grass height depends upon how much rain the grassland gets
-wetter grasslands may have grasses as high as 12feet or 3.6 meters tall Every continent but Antarctica SIZE OF THE ECOSYSTEM The North American grasaslands (prairie) make up about 1.4 million square miles or 15% of the continent. They cover about one thousand miles of the center of our country, from the Rocky Mountains to the state of Indianna and can be sub-divided into three broad categories of grass types (short grass, tall grass and mixed grass prairie).Theses categories are determined by the amount of rainfall DEFINITIONS Biomes= a complex biotic community charactized by distinctive plant and animal species and maintainedunder the climate conditions of the region especially such a community that has devolped to climax
Steppes= an extensive plain especially one without trees
Pampas=the vast plains of Southern South America, especially in Argentina
