Indiana Basketball The Hoosiers became a member of the prestigious Big Ten Conference December 1, 1899 has had a varsity basketball team since 1901 through 2004, had won 1,555 games.
9th on the list for winningest programs Coach Crean 28th Coach in Indiana
University History In 11 years as a head coach on the collegiate level, he is 206-142 and has seen all 35 of the seniors who have played for him earn college degrees.

Coach Knight
led IU to
victory over
700 times in
29 years.
They have won five NCAA championships: in 1940, 1953, 1976, 1981, and 1987, and also reached the Final Four in 1992 and 2002. Indiana University Men's Basketball team was founded in 1898. In the first 20 years, Indiana University Basketball had held 16 head coaches The team plays home games on the Branch McCracken Court in Assembly Hall Branch McCraken coached from 1938-1943 and also from 1946-1965. During his coaching time at IU he took a break to go and fight in WWII. During his time as a coach he won the title of Coach of the year. He led the Hoosiers to 4 NCAA tournaments and 2 National Championships Bobby Knight coached from 1971-2000. He lead them to 24 NCAA appearances and 3 National Titles. Knight is commonly known for this behavioral problems that later lead to his dismissal Kelvin Sampson was hired in 2006 and left in 2008. Although he led the team to only one NCAA appearance, he is most commonly known for his defiance with NCAA recruitment rules. In 2008 He left due to a second round of questioning about his call to recruits. He said he wanted to leave so that he wouldn't bring negative attention to the team Cook Hall was completed in 2010. The basketball practice facility holds two courts, one for the men's and one for the women's teams. It also includes both coaches office's, a training room, and a tunnel that connects Cook Hall and Assembly Hall
