Setting The setting of
Quarantine is
McKinley High
School during
the school year. The time is the present. Quarantine: The Loners By Lex Thomas Theme The theme of
this story is
that you should
never give up
no matter how
bad the
situation is. Summary In the beginning of Quarantine: The Loners, McKinley High School is infected with a disease. The disease kills anyone older than 18 or younger than 13. Everyone in between 13-18 has the disease in them, but they won't die until they turn 18. The teachers have all died, leaving the students on their own. The government has put the school under quarantine, so no one can leave until they turn 18. Once you turn 18 you won't infect anyone else, and you are safe. Until then, you have to survive. There are supply drops every 2-3 weeks. Everyone fights for the food and supplies because there are limited amounts. People will even kill you and your group to get your food and supplies. David, his little brother Will need to survive. At the end of the book, David turns 18 and graduates from McKinley High, leaving The Loners without a president and Will without a brother. Climax The climax of Quarantine: The Loners is when David, who is now 18, is dying and manages to escape McKinley High School. First book in the trilogy! Quarantine: The Loners is the first book in the trilogy. The second book is called Quarantine: The Saints. The third book's title has not been released yet. David A character trait for David is caring because when his younger brother Will has seizures, David takes care of him. Will Will is daring because he sneaks out of the groups' "home" at night to wander around the school. Lucy Lucy is smart because she always knows what to do.
