How to Register for Classes
A Presentation by the CNHP Advising Center
So first things first: Open your favorite internet browser and type in www.my.usi.edu
Important: If you do not know your myUSI username and password, contact the Computer Center at 812-465-1080 and advise them that you need your username and password to access your USI accounts.
In this presentation we will show you:
1: How to Register for a class
2: How to find holds on your account
3: How to view your schedule
1: How to register for a class
Students at USI register for classes themselves online using their myUSI account.
Once you have logged in you will be taken to the main menu for your Self Service Options
Select the Student Tab or Select Student from the menu
Then Select "Registration"
And finally, select "Add/Drop classes"
Use the drop down menu to select the term you are registering for and click submit.
Scroll to the bottom of the "Add or Drop Classes" page
and click the "Class Search" button.
Note: If this is the first time you are signing up for classes you will not see courses under the header Current Schedule. In this example, the student has registered for classes in the fall and you can see them listed under the Current Schedule.
Select a subject from the subject box. Such as:
health professions
Select the course number:
Such as:
The next screen can be a little confusing at first glance so we are going to break it down into steps.
All classes offered are displayed in a list including the title of the course, class times, instructors, and locations.
To select a course, click the box next to the class you want to register for. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "Register."
A closed course will have a "C" instead of a check box
A course that requires you to be a member of the Living Learning Community (an organization of students who live on campus and take courses together) has "LLC" at the end of the title
Repeat this same process for each class you wish to take.
Once you click register you will return to the screen below.
The course you just registered for will now appear under the Current Schedule header.
But it won't let me register, it says I have a hold on my account.
What do I do now?!?!?

2. How to Find Holds on Your Account
If you have a hold on your account, you may not be able to register without the University's help. There are several different types of holds: Busrar Holds, Immunization Holds, Registrar's Holds, Major Holds, Advisor Holds, New Student Holds, etc., the list goes on and on.

The type of hold and the contact information for the department that can remove the hold is listed on your myUSI account. If you have an advisor hold, contact your Faculty Advisor first.
But where do I find out if I have a hold on my account?!
To check whether there are holds on your account, click the Student tab within your myUSI Self Service Menu
Click on "Student Account"
Click on "View Holds"
Any holds that you have on your account would be listed here
with contact information for the department to call for help!
OK, so I've registered for my classes.
Is there a quick and easy way to see my schedule?

3. How to view your schedule
Once you have signed up for your courses, you can view your schedule any time by signing into myUSI Self Service and clicking on Student
Then Select "Registration"
Under Registration, you can see your schedule 3 different ways:
Concise Student Schedule
Week at a Glance
Student Detail Schedule
Each view has unique characteristics that we encourage you to play with!

You have now successfully registered for your classes at USI!

Then enter your user name and password
Once there click on "Sign In" in the upper right corner
Once logged in click on the "Self Service" tab on the left side
Click "Course Search"
Click "View Sections"
You check the box next to the class you want and click "Register"
