DESIGNER He followed the idea of " Form follows function." BIOGRAPHY Born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on June 8, 1867
His architectural career lasted 70 years!
The architecture designed 1141 houses and buildings, before her died 532 of them were completed!
One of his famous quotes stated were " Organic architecture seeks superior sense of use and a finer sense of comfort, expressed in organic simplicity."
Frank Lloyd Wright died on April 9, 1959 in Phoenix, Arizona INFLUENCES INFLUENCES Frank Lloyd Wright moved to Wisconsin at twelve years old with his family. His summers spent at uncle's farm inspired him to become a architecture. As a man he worked for Louis Sullivan who supported the belief that american architecture should not be based upon European traditions but american function. Frank only acknowledges Louis Sullivan as a primary influence on his career. His houses weren't representatives of nature but is just a reinterpretation of nature's principles through architecture
The open floor plans were to create a feeling of space and family togetherness. Stone Prairie style includes long, low horizontal lines. Overhangs are much in use accenting the horizontal planes and an imprint of a relationship with nature. Simple but practical ideas with the use of geometric shapes still does not distract from the purpose of the furniture. Glass Geometric Shapes Introduced the idea of "organic" architecture Innovator of the "Prairie School" in architecture and funiture design. The Prairie stlye influenced many furniture manufacturers Influenced the nature of how we lived.
