hypothesis
My hypothesis is that the ice cube will melt quicker in vinegar than in water. The reason is that vinegar acidity will mean that it will melt at a lower melting point.
Intro
The Aim of my experiment is to measure how fast an ice cube melts in water with varying amounts of vinegar mixed in. I find this interesting because we learned about PH and I would like to learn more about it.
background research
Vinegar melts an ice cube quickly because of its acidity. The reason is that the acetic acid in vinegar lowers the melting point, meaning that the ice cube will melt at a colder temperature. Therefore, the ice cube will melt faster with the lower melting point.

materials
1. Vinegar
2. Water
3. Dropper Measuring ML
4. 30 ice cubes

1. Pour 50 ml of vinegar in a cup.
2. Put the ice cube in the vinegar.
3. Time and record how fast it takes for the ice cube to melt in the 50 ml of vinegar.
4. Pour 40 ml of vinegar in a cup and 10 ml of water
5. Put the ice cube in the cup
6. Time and record how fast it takes for the ice cube to melt.
7. Do the same for 30 ml of vinegar and 20 ml of water. 20 ml of vinegar and 30 ml of water and 10 ml of vinegar and 40 ml of water. And 0 ml of vinegar and 50 ml of water. See which measurements of vinegar and water take the least to melt the ice cube.

Control: The size of the ice cube, temperature of the liquids and size of the cup.

Analysis
In conclusion, my hypothesis was not correct. I thought that vinegar would melt the ice cube faster but the water did.
An error that I had was that at first my experiment was going to be with zero to five Milliliters. However, that was not enough so I raised it to zero to fifty milliliters.
I increased the amount of milliliters when there were not enough. In the future, I would add more milliliters of liquids because that could have been the error.

If the ph level was 6, it would take 67.84 minutes to melt the ice cube.
If there were 70 minutes to melt an ice cube, then the ph level would be 6.34.
The slope meant that every time one milliliter was added, the melting time went up by 0.45 minutes.

This line shows that as the amount of vinegar increases, the melting time went up.

The water melted the ice faster than vinegar. The reason was because vinegar has more ions than water. Therefore, the vinegar's more ions pushed the ice cube up. This means that the ice cube would be higher up and less water was touching the ice cube. However, with water there are not many molecules and ions pushing the ice cube. This means that more water would be touching the water, putting more water around the ice cube.
