Millennium Development Goals
in order to halve poverty by 2015...

Since 2000 we have been able to see significant
progress
towards all eight goals across the globe
...

GOAL 1:
ERADICATE EXTREME POVERTY & HUNGER
Reduce by half the number of people living on less than US $1.25 a day
PROGRESS
GOAL 2: ACHIEVE UNIVERSAL PRIMARY EDUCATION
Ensure that all children complete primary schooling
PROGRESS
GOAL 3:
PROMOTE GENDER EQUALITY AND EMPOWER WOMEN
Ensure girls have the same access to education as boys
PROGRESS
GOAL 4: REDUCE
CHILD MORTALITY
Cut infant and child deaths by two thirds
PROGRESS
GOAL 5:
IMPROVE MATERNAL HEALTH
Reduce by three quarters the proportion of women dying in childbirth
PROGRESS
GOAL 6: COMBAT
HIV AND AIDS, MALARIA AND OTHER DISEASES
Halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV and AIDS, malaria and other diseases
PROGRESS
7: ENSURE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
Halve the proportion of the population
without sustainable access to safe drinking water
and basic sanitation

GOAL 8:
DEVELOP A GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP FOR DEVELOPMENT
Commitment of developed countries to reach 0.7% of GNI (the international target) going
