Intro to Design

Point
Point is a design element that has no dimension and can be used as a location tool in design.
Line
A line that only has a length dimension and can be used to define a boundary, indicate volume, and create perspective, depth, textures, and patterns.
Color
A line that represents dignity, formality, stability, and strength.
Vertical Line
A line that represents calm, peace, and relaxation.
Horizontal Line
A line that represents action, activity, excitement, and movement.
Diagonal Line
Value
A relative lightness or darkness of an object and allows us to perceive shapes and the illusion of 3D objects on a 2D surface.
Form
Positive Space
Smooth Texture
Symmetrical Balance
Emphasis
Contrast
It's the degree of relative differences between elements and can be used to emphasize an element of a design.
Regular Rhythm
An element that is repeated at the same repetition or interval.
Random Rhythm
The repetition of the element that is random or situated at irregular intervals.
Graduated Rhythm
The repeated element that is identical with the exception of one detail increasing or decreasing gradually with each repetition.
Graduate Rhythm
The repeated element that becomes closer or farther apart.
Proportion
It's the comparative relationship between elements in a design with respect to size.
Unity
The consistent use of design elements.
Economy
It is used to the bare minimum of elements and can be achieved by removing elements.
