Tervis V.S. Nalgene
Procedure and Results
For both hot and cold experiments, we put the
different temperature water in each of the cups and recorded
the drop/increase of temperature over a period of time. We repeated this two more times.
Conclusion
In the COLD experiment, the average change in temperature is -1° for the Tervis, versus +2° for the Nalgene. Additionally, in the HOT experiment, the average change in temperature is -65° for the Tervis, versus -84° for the Nalgene.
According to the previously shown evidence, the Tervis brand cup holds both hot and cold liquids for longer amounts of time than the Nalgene brand cup.

Questions and Introduction
How long do different brands of insulated cups keep liquids hot or cold?
We conducted two experiments that tested both hot and cold.
We researched on each of the cups to help us make our hypothesis:
Tervis: $20, a cup that "drinks hotter than other cups." Features double-insulation.
Nalgene: $10.20, "cap-seal ring is molded directly into the cap." Features single-insulation.
Our hypothesis:
We think that the Tervis brand cup will keep both cold and hot liquids longer than the Nalgene because of its double-insulated features.

There are many sources of error throughout our experiment. First off, in the COLD experiment I should have used a
digital thermometer
to get more accurate temperatures or I should have used
two thermometers
because while I was taking the temperature of one the other water could have been lowering. Another source of error is that when I took the starting
temperature the water wasn't at it's coldest
temperature, which is why you see the drop in temperature. To fix this I could have waited until the water was at it's coldest before starting the experiment. For the HOT experiment, I should have used an off-
brand that was more suitable to keeping hot liquids
. The Nalgene cup was not the best for that aspect. For next time, I could use a better choice of variables to test.
