Amerigo Vespucci Born-March,9, 1454 Florence, Italy
Died- Feb., 22, 1512 Education- Educated by his Uncle Gorgio Antonio Vespucci in a church Amerigo Vespucci sailed for Portugal and Spain.
He sailed with 4 ships, the San Antiago, Repertaga, Wegiz, and the Girmand.
1 of Amerigo's uncles, Uncle Guido Antonio Vespucci sent him on a diplomatic mission to Paris. There is where he encountered Christopher Columbus. Though their is not much information about this mission, this what made Vespucci want to be an explorer. Information about my Explorer His First Voyage On May 10, 1497 Amerigo Vespucci set out on his first voyage with permission from the King of Portugal. Not much is known about this voyage, though we do know that he reached the coast of America but back then it was known as Asia. He came back in 1498. 2nd Voyage On May 14, 1501 Amerigo Vespucci was commissioned for a voyage led by Portugese Explorer Goncalo Coelho. 3rd Voyage On May 16, 1499 Vespucci heads out from Cope Verde accompanied by Alonzo de Ojeda. Ojeda was the fleet commander. Ojeda ventured South beyond the equator to present day Guyana. They discovered St. Augustine and the Amazon River. They came back in 1500.
Vespucci went out in 1503 to the Southeastern side of South America, that is where the crew broke up. Vespucci made it to Libson via Bahia. He discovered the Coast of America but they called it Asia
He also discovered St. Augustine, and the Amazon River
