The Shang Dynasty
About the Shang Dynasty
The Shang Dynasty was around from 1600
to 1100BC. It was located in china next to the Yellow river so that people could grow crops as well as use water in their everyday life. This dynasty was famous for their use of bronze when making battle clothes and weapons.

The first leader of the Shang Dynasty was emperor Tang. The reign of the emperors was passed from brother to brother and then from son to nephew in age order. There were 30 emperors in the time of the Shang Dynasty.
The Social classes
The were 4 social classes in the Shang Dynasty : The Emperors and nobles, The military (infantry & chariot warriors), The craftsman and artisans and the peasant farmers.
Clothes & Homes
Most people during the Shang time were peasants. They wore leather tunics and trousers as they were very poor. they lived in homes made of wood and clay outside the city walls

The nobles/priests and rich people like emperors wore beautiful clothes made of silk.They lived in beautiful lavished homes inside the city walls.
If your father was a Priest, you would be a priest as well. This was the same with the military and the peasant farmers. However if your father was a farmer and you wanted to be something else, you could only be an infantry warrior in the military.
Fun facts
The walls surrounding the city were 30ft high and 65ft deep.
The capital of China was changes several times.
The yellow river looks yellow because of the clay dust and it was also prone to flooding
