of the Centurion

The Power in the Confession
John 5:18

"This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God."
Hebrews 1:1-3

"1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the
exact imprint of his nature
, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high"
1 John 4:15

"Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God."

"But to this day the LORD has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear."
1 John 5:1

Hope and Promise
Matthew 16:15-18

"15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
Our hope is not in the intellect, courage, or morality of a person.
Our hope is in the mighty power of God to save the worst of the worst, the chiefest of sinners, and even the man overseeing His death.
Our hope is not in 'significant events', dreams, visions, miracles, or signs.
Our hope is in the plan of God to proclaim the gospel in and through the church.
Our hope is not in massive revival or explosive numbers
Our hope is in the love and mercy of God
