Brain storming
Order Student's ideas
Organize the video in scenes
, so that the students have an idea on how to start the video.
More creative students can ignore the prior organization if they have a clear idea.

Give them
10 minutes
(and just 10 minutes) to organize their ideas in the chart.

Do it in their mother tongue.
Examples
1st ESO
2nd ESO
Task 1
You are a reporter and you must prepare a short news show in a local TV.
Task 2
Create a biopic of one member of the group: Follow him doing his everyday activities and practicing a sport.
Task 1
You are going shopping with your friends for a party you all have next weekend.
Task 2
A crime in your town: Investigate who can the murderer be and explain the crime.
Students write down the video script
Session 1
:

After drafting some ideas, students start
writing down the video script in English
.

REMEMBER:
Only the secretary is allowed to write
. Everybody in the group must participate, though.

Once the session is over, I ask the students to finish the script as homework (4 or 5 days).

When I have the
1st draft, I just underline the mistakes
(I do not correct them).
Session 2
:

I group students and give them the
semicorrected
draft
.

I give students 10-20 minutes to
correct their mistakes
.

Meanwhile, I walk through the tables and help them with the doubts they may have.

Once finished, the
assistant
(or director in 3-member groups)
must copy the final version into a word document
and e-mail it to the video editor.
Students get together and record the video

How are students assessed?
Group assessment
Individual assessment
How do I grade the activity?

By means of an
assessment rubric
.

It's a grade of the
activity as a whole
.
No individual concerns taken into consideration.
Minutes of each session
Students description of the process of creation.
Students must
fulfill the minutes of each session
:

Do a
follow-up
of the process of creation of the video.

Students can
explain the problems
they have had and how they have
solved them
.

The teacher can have a general idea of how the group has worked:
Who was there and who was not?
Have all the members done their share of work.
Has someone done more than supposed to?

Helps to define the
individual grade
.

do we need some kind of individual assessment ?
Why individual assessment ?
WHY
1. To
encourage
individual work
.

2. To
reward
those members of the group who have self implicated more in the correct fulfillment of the project.

3. To
penalized
those students who have not done their share of work:

The
director
must coordinate and check that everything is done.

The
Secretary
is in charge of the minutes of each session.

The
video editor
must edit the video and sync the subtitles.

The
assistant
is in charge of the dossier and the responsible of creating the word document of the corrected draft.
do we assess individually ?
