Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? Well with the preliminary task we had only just found out the names of different camera shots so when going into making the preliminary task we just wanted to use as many different shots as possible and sort of make it look all right along the way, we were also very eager to start filming so we did sort of rush writing the storyboard. However we did learn from this when it came to our main production as in stead of getting straight into creating the storyboard, we started planning different ideas for the storyline as we wanted it to be the strong point of our movie and we also started thinking of similar movies to what we were doing such as "The Spirit" and "Kick Ass" which I think was the start of what helped us to realize different techniques we could use during filming. We also learnt how important music is in the editing because looking back to our preliminary task we just tried to find some scary music and put it on top of the movie, it was only after we had finished the task that we realized how much better the music made the film, it added tension and suspense all the emotions we wanted the audience to feel just came from adding the music. So when it came to our film it was important to us that we chose the right music and it that it was relevant to the picture we wanted to portray such as the electric music we used for the New York which instantly makes you think of modern times and the busy life of New York. For the preliminary task we did not think about the lighting and how this would affect our shots because we filmed on different days with different weather so in the end we changed it to black and white as it looked good but also so we wouldn’t have to edit all the contrast and light in editing. To overcome this in our opening sequence we got all the outside shots done in one day and we used the same lighting for the rest of the shots indoors. This ended up leaving us no trouble in editing as the light was the same for the consecutive shots. I think the main thing we have learnt from the preliminary task is that planning is essential to making a well put together intro and that you don’t always have to stick to the plan either if the circumstances require such as running out of time.Full transcript
