Proclamation of 1763
King George III said no colonist could go past the Appalachian Mountains

Stamp Act 1765
All paper goods were taxed. Townshend Acts taxed much more.
Boston Massacre 1770
When a few colonist were throwing snowballs at British soldiers and were accidently fired upon. Few people died and it was not a massacre.
Boston Tea Party 1773
When colonist dressed up as Indians and threw tea off a British tea ship. Led to the British blockading Boston Harbor.
1st Continental Congress 1774
Delegates appointed George Washington general and made an olive branch petition.
Battle of Lexington and Concord 1775
British went to Lexington then to Concord to find gunpowder. Paul Revere warned them and they were able to hide it.
2nd Continental Congress 1775
Wrote Declaration of Independence.
Fort Ticonderoga 1775
Ethan Allen, The Green Mountain Boys, and Benedict Arnold took Fort Ticonderoga without a single life lost on either side.
Battle of Bunker Hill 1775
Battle happened mainly on Breeds Hill. Americans were winning at first, but were forced to retreat when they ran out of ammunition.
British capture NYC 1776
British surround most of American Army. They are forced to retreat.
Battle of Trenton and Princeton 1776
Americans surprise British and Hessian's and beat them.
Battle at Saratoga 1777
British are trying to cut off New England from the rest of the colonies, and fight troops and Saratoga and lose.
Winter at Valley Forge 1777-78
Cold, harsh winter, many died from frostbite or smallpox.
Battle of Yorktown 1781
The French Fleet surrounded the British at Yorktown by sea, and the Continental Army surrounded their front ending in the British surrendering.
Treat of Paris 1783
Americans officially became free from British.
