II. The Manila Third Sewerage Project
III. How the facility works
IV. How this will become a solution in the future 90% of the facility is found underground
Process tanks are underground while support facilities are on silts.
It was designed this way to keep flood waters from damaging the facilities. The design purposely keeps the facility from blocking the river path.
Water from the following areas are lead to the plant:
>Hermanos Industrial Valley
>Libis How the water is received by the plant http://pinoyweekly.org/new/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/marikina-river-map-provident-sm.jpg Causing: >Floods
>Exposure to disease
>REALLY DIRTY WATER!
-A tributary of the Pasig River
-one of the most important natural water systems in the Metro Manila
Marikina City’s main waterway! Marikina River BUT......
It is still exposed to domestic and industrial waste :( http://urbandud.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/marikina-river-2.jpg Aims to rehabilitate the watercourse and developing the city’s largest recreational area.
1. Removal of informal settlements.
2. Provide land for the 10,500 families who resettled for this.
3. A strict disposal collection policy.
4. Regular river dredging. "Save the Marikina River" http://www.flickr.com/photos/greenpeaceuk/6079437710/sizes/l/in/photostream/ > clean up domestic wastewater from Marikina and Quezon City
> help reduce pollution in the Marikina River. Why was this created?? Innovative solution addressing sewage and sanitation needs

-Olandes Sewage Treatment Plant International Water Association Manila Water (Support!!) Currently, Manila Water operates 37 sewage treatment facilities and two septage treatment plants to support its drive to help clean and rehabilitate the major river systems in Metro Manila including San Juan, Marikina and Pasig Rivers.
1) foundation pipe of the house
2) through a drainage pipe (goes through a sieve-like basket that is attached at the end of the pipe unto the sewage pipe)
3) into the main sewage pipe
4) leading to the main plant How the water is received by the plant (from the houses)
Solids are screened and de-gritted to separate the debris from the liquid. Preliminary Treatment Primary Treatment
The filtered liquid is aerated in an equalization tank and infused with oxygen. Secondary Treatment Micro-organisms degrade the remaining organic matter in the liquid. Tertiary Treatment The treated wastewater undergoes further clarification, disinfect ion and chlorination. Sewage Treatment Process Supports the Clean Air Act (2004) Water services to 3.3 million residents strategic design make it sustainable Active lifestyle & maintenance of facilities improved water quality Improved quality of fish References >clean up domestic wastewater from Marikina and Quezon City
