A simile is a compariason that uses the transition words "Like" or "As"

The snow felt like a blanket of silk
A metaphor is comparing two things without using "like" or "as"

An idiom is a phrase that has a group of words put together to create a meaning

It is raining cats and dogs
A proverb is a phrase that has a meaning or advice

The early bird gets the worm
