Roman Politics Monarchy to Republic The rape of Lucretia, cause by the current Kings son, Sextus Tarquinius, was the last straw that the Roman citizens could have handled from the tyranny
The women then committed suicide and he death as well as the rape of Lucretia lead to a revolt They overthrew the royal family and exiled them In place of a king they formed the Republic. This way of government was relied on the representatives of the city, usually a person like the senate and Patrician class families. Republic to Empire
