Miles Halter is a sophomore who decides to attend Culver Creek Boarding School for his Junior year. He is searching for the “Great Perhaps” of his routine, boring life and believes he can find it at Culver Creek. Instead he finds two friends, Chip and Alaska. The two of them push Miles outside of his comfort zone ad limits but help discover the true meaning of love, lies, life and forgiveness.

The movie takes place at Culver Creek Preparatory High School in Alabama. Culver Creek is a boarding school.
This film takes places in the modern day. Characters use cell phones and computers throughout the story.
Miles' dad attended Culver Creek and that is why Miles is attending Culver Creek.

"He had attended Culver Creek, the same school to which I was headed..." (Green 5).

Looking for Alaska had a unique and diverse group of characters who each contributed to the dynamics of the story. For example Alaska with her mood swings and Chip with his sarcastic take on life. Furthermore several themes were woven into the story such as Romance, friendship, and Consciousness of life. All of which were portrayed throughout the book.
