INTRODUCTION
Do you know the strongest and largest living lizard today? Well it's the Komodo dragon. The Komodo dragon is a huge lizard that can grow over 10 feet long and weigh over 300 pounds. These Komodo dragons have a muscular tail, rounded snout, and a flat scaly head. It is a vertebrate because it has a backbone. They are extraordinary creatures!
LIFE CYCLE
Komodo dragons mate between May and August. Females usually lay 30 eggs all in September. Female Komodo dragons are ready to mate when they're 4 or 5 years old. Males are ready when they're 7 years old. It takes 8-9 months to hatch eggs. Young Komodo dragons are small and defenseless. They only weigh 3.5 ounces and are only 16 inches long. Komodos live about 30 years in the wild.
The Komodo dragon is a carnivore. Babies eat little lizards, insects, eggs, and birds. Adults eat wild pigs, deer, young water buffalo, and on one island long tailed macaque monkeys. Sometimes they eat people, but this is rare. They also eat their own kind.
BIOME/ECOSYSTEM
Komodo dragons live in the Tropical Rainforest biome. They live on islands around Indonesia and on Indonesia. Some animals the Komodo lives with are wild pigs, deer, water buffalo , goats, and on a certain island, the long tailed macaque monkey.
THEIR DIET
Did you know that Komodo Dragons can swallow a goat whole. This animal also can taste and smell with its forked tongue. Komodos can puke up big chunks of its meal so it can flee.
ADAPTATIONS
The Komodo Dragon has five fingers and toes. This helps them climb trees. They can also swim. This animal has no fur it has scaly skin. That doesn't effect the komodo dragon, because it is warm in Indonesia

Komodo dragons were discovered when a world war one jet pilot crashed. He swam to the shore and found these mystical creatures. This happened about 100 years ago.

HOW IT GETS ITS FOOD
The Komodo dragon will use its brown skin to blend in. Komodos have poisoness bacteria so that when it bites the prey. Then the Komodo leaves 8 percent of the animal behind. It eats the hooves bones and other stuff that other animals don't eat.
