Persephone
All About Persephone
Persephone's Family was full of Gods and Godesses
Demeter, her mother (Lyons 1106).
The Pomegranate was very important in her most famous tale.
It played an important role in her most common tale, Hymn to Demeter. Because of eating it that she had to stay in the Underworld for one third of the year (Lyons 1108).
Persephone had many tales about her.
The most famous; the Hymn to Demeter was about Persephone's abduction and what caused the earth to be barren during the winter (Lyons 1106).
The Goddess of Agriculture and the Underworld

Zeus, her father (Lyons 1106).
Hades, her uncle and husband (Lyons 1106).
"[Persephone] was [the] daughter of Demeter. . . and Zeus . . ."(Lyons 1106).
It also symbolized death and eternal life (Lyons 1108).
". . . the fruit itself . . . are often used to stand for Resurrection [and] immortality . . ." (Lyons 1108).
There was also a legend about the creation of mint which Persephone was involved in, Minthe, a nymph, was squashed by the angered Demeter's foot, after she was squashed she had been turned into mint (Atsma).
There was also a myth of Adonis, a man who was loved by both Aphrodite and Persephone (Atsma).
". . . then she complained loudly with overweening words and raved foolishly for jealousy, and Demeter in anger trampled upon her with her feet and destroyed her"(Atsma).
