How do challenges shape us?
Transcript of How do challenges shape us?
How does success and failure makes us who we are?
I Think we all need a pep talk...
There are a countless number of
identities that first failed in their
attempt at being the best they can
Today we are going to ask a few important questions and do a little research.
Who here has felt like they haven't succeeded at what they set out to do?
Did it take a few attempts to get it right?
If we did everything right the first time would we bother to try new things? Would it be as rewarding if it were always so easy?
"IF THINGS START HAPPENING, DON'T WORRY DON'T STEW, JUST GO RIGHT ALONG AND YOU'LL START HAPPENING TOO." DR SEUSS
ALMOST EVERY KNOWS THE
AUTHOR DR SEUSS...
BUT DID YOU KNOW... THAT THEODOR SEUSS GEISEL HAD AN ACUTE FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING AND ALMOST GAVE UP ON BEING A CARTOONIST AND WRITER?
THEODOR SEUSS GEISEL AS A YOUNG BOY WAS ONCE EMBARRASSED ONSTAGE BY PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT, BECAUSE OF THIS HE HAD A HUGE FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING.
DID THIS HELP IN POINTING
SEUSS IN THE DIRECTION OF
DRAWING AND WRITING?
DR SEUSS'S FIRST BOOK
WAS REJECTED BY 27 DIFFERENT PUBLISHERS.
IMAGINE IF SEUSS
HAD GIVEN UP.
IMAGEN THE STORIES AND IMAGES
WE WOULD HAVE MISSED.
HOW WE CHOOSE TO
DEAL WITH FAILURE AND
SUCCES MAKES US
WHO WE ARE.
IN GROUPS, WE ARE GOING TO RESEARCH OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXCELLED IN THEIR FIELD AND FIND OUT HOW THEIR SUCCESS AND FAILURE SHAPED THEM AND ADD IT TO THIS PREZI!
If Theodor Seuss Geisel had
not been frightened of public speaking would he have become an author and
Questions to think about...
How did they start?
Did they succeed straight away?
Did they ever fail or change the direction they took?
When did they feel like they had succeeded at what they wanted to do?
Who can recognize this author?
But one day....
Dr Seuss ran into a friend who that day had been
offered a job at a publishing house. This friend published Dr Seuss's first book... Had Dr Seuss given
up after being rejected the first, second, or even twentieth time he would not have ran into his friend.
This could be considered as failing 27 times...
