Transcript of EXPLORING SPACE

EXPLORING SPACE
Humans have always been fascinated by the Cosmos. This raises many questions. The most important of these is: are we alone?
Finding out the answer to these questions is the main thing powering us into the Cosmos.
In the future giant starships will cruise about space, well available to regular people by then !!!!
We are currently developing technologies for long distance travel in space.
We are also close to carrying out a Mars mission !!!
Although it will take time we will build starships, warp drives and many others...
THE FUTURE
Todays concepts
Today we have many spaceship concepts using existing technology.
Some stranger than others...
Near future
We are developing tech to make starships like the ones in Avatar possible.
FAR FUTURE
It will take a long time but we will certainly aim to build starships like the ones below.
TODAY
Existing Spacecraft
The Soyuz
The space shuttle
The Huygens probe
Existing Concepts
Orion
The Ares Family
Robotics
We are developing AI (Artificial Intelligence). This will allow us to build robots thinking for themselves.
Propulsion
over the history of rocketry there was one dominating power source, the chemical rocket. But now this is changing...
chemical
Antimatter
Skylon
Nuclear
Where should we go ?
In space there are many stars, and most have planets we can explore.
Alpha Centauri double star, nearest star after the Sun.
But stars can be dangerous, they explode as super novas!!!
The planets we know
The space telescope Kepler has discovered many planets that could be home to life!
Where are we ?
Earths address : Earth, Inner Solar System, Solar System, Milky Way, Local Group, Visable Universe. Yes that long !!!!
Our galaxy is made of billions stars !!!
SUN
ET Life
Many people think that aliens are all humanoid but that's because we don't know they needed to evolve to a different habitat, they probably will be totaly different from us.
Spooky ?
Weapons
Beam
projectile
Beam weapons shoot with high energy particles at high speed
Projectile weapond shoot bullets at high speed.
Future colonies
In the future we will colonise planets belonging to other stars light years awayand thus incraese our knowledge. But we might need to protect ourselves from aggresive life.
Remember this Prezi is still being developed, and if I do decide to stop, it will have at least 150 slides.(although i probably will finish at 300 slides! :-) In the comments you will find what version this prezi is in and what will be added in the next one. Please leave a comment !
thanks for watching

SCI FI MISTAKES
It is a well known fact that science fiction authors often forget about the laws of physics...
Star Wars ships, all of them! All ships in the movie make the same mistakes. Firstly, fighters lean to one side (bank) to turn (works only in atmospheres...)!
Secondly, they only have thrust in one direction so in theory they are unable to turn !
ALL OF THOSE ARE VERY COMMON MISTAKES !!!!!!!!!
ALIENS
It is very improbable that on every planet we go to there will be friendly life to meet with, but it is still very probable that there is life on other planets. And also the life will be different, because it is adapted to different conditions ...
AERODYNAMICS
Rearly are sci-fi spaceships properly aerodynamic, and so unable to enter atmospheres, because they will create too much drag and will burn up due to friction...
