Plot
Plot is the sequence of events
in a narrative.
It is structured around a conflict,
or problem.
It can be divided into the 4
following parts:

Exposition
Characters and
setting are introduced.

Rising Action
Central conflict
begins.

Climax
High point of
intensity in the conflict is reached.

Falling Action
Conflict's intensity
lessens.
#5
Resolution
Conflict concludes and loose ends are tied up.
Writers use a variety of
techniques, or stylish devices, to keep readers interested in
the plot
Foreshadowing
Suspense
A feeling of tension that keeps readers wondering what will happen
next.
Is the use of clues
to hint at events that
will happen later in
a story.
Authors use this technique

-Night Watchman.
-Fell in love.
-Jumped from the fire escape on Halloween
over 50 years ago.
-Thought his girlfriend did not want to marry him.

- Miss Daisy Bell:
-William Heron's girlfriend.
-Taught the Harp.
-Rented a room in the building
(now Jason's office).
No one is allowed in the building after 5 PM.
Jason is determined to find out why.
He sneaks into the building.
He hears a telephone ring and a bicycle bell.
He meets William Heron's ghost (almost forced off fire escape).
The CURSE:
Berenice tells Jason he is doomed.
RESOLUTION
Jason and Berenice get
away safely.
