Possible causes:
- Column not properly installed
- Wrong type of ferrule is used
- Injector port is not properly closed
- O-ring of ion source door is damaged or not properly installed
- Sealing surface is scratched or dirty
Possible causes:
- Gas tubing not properly connected
- Carrier gas cylinder empty
- Inlet pressure lower than operating range of AFC
Possible causes:
- Contamination of carrier gas, system or column
- Poor gas flow control
- Poor temperature control
Possible causes:
- Contamination of system or column
- Contamination of consumables
- Bad sample handling or preparation
- Carryover from previous runs
Possible causes:
- Poorly cut column ends
- Incompatible glass liner or column
- Poor injection technique
- Certain compounds almost always cause tailing
Screw tight injector port
Remove the tape / holder
Do a bubble test
Remove holder for detector
Put in nut and ferrule
Put in injector jig
Place either a tape or a used septum to act as holder
Place column into GC oven
Repeat the procedure for MS
