Transcript of Cells

Cells Unit Project By Eliana Demichael
Eating the food that is good for you
Eating fruits and vegetables
Animals eating plants or meat
Getting rid of waste
Trees giving oxygen for carbon dioxide
Making more of kind
A tree dropping a seed
A baby coming out
Respiration is when you breathe
Breathing is what helps you live
Rudolf Virchow
He discovered that cells come from existing cells
used a simple microscope
Response and Movement
Your actions
walking,and running
What you wear for the weather
Anton van Leeuwenhoek
He used a compound microscope
Looked at the pond water
Stated that cells can be found in pond water
Named them Animolocules
He used a compound microscope
Looked at a piece of cork
Named them cells
Reminded him of jail cells
Robert Hooke
The gel-like substance inside the cell membrane contains a large amount of water.
Matthias Schleiden
He concluded that plants are made of cells.
Cell Membrane
An outer covering that gives the cell shape, and helps control materials that move in and out of the cell.

Muscle Tissue
Muscle tissue can contract or shorten.
Theodore Schwann
He discovered that all animals are made of cells.
Nervous Tissue
Are the nerves in you.
If you touch something hot it send a message to your brain.
Connective Tissue
Connective tissue connects all of your body parts.
Homeostasis is what keeps our body at 98.6 degrees.
Ex:when were hot we sweat.
Ex:When were cold we shiver.
Epithelial tissue is what protects your body.
Ex:your skin
Growth is how you grow.
our cells grow but they grow slowly. That is why we grow slowly.
The Activities of Living Things
Organization of Living Things
Inside of a Cell
Cell Wall
a cell wall is a rigid layer that surrounds a plant cell.
the cell wall protects the plant cell and provides support for the plant cell.
Animal cells do not have a cell wall.
Discovery Of Cells
A microscope is help us what we can't see with our eyes.
Is a part of a microscope that makes things look larger than they appear.
Resolution is the ability to clearly distinguish the individual parts of an object.
chloroplast is what captures sunlight, and use carbon dioxide to produce food for the pant cells.
Is only found in plant cell not an ANIMAL CELL.
Chromosomes are what hold our DNA.
They are what help make new cells.
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Endoplasmic Reticulum is a maze of passageways that carry proteins and other materials from one part of the cell to another.
Endoplasmic reticulum is known as the transportation system of the cells.
Golgi Bodies
Golgi Bodies receive proteins from the Endoplasmic Reticulum packages them up,and distributes the material to another part of the cell.
The Golgi Bodies are known as the cells UPS of FedEx
Lysosomes are small round structures that break down large particles into smaller particles.
Lysosomes break down old viruses, organelles, and bacteria.
Lysosomes are known as the cell's vacuum cleaner.
The mitocondria are also known as the powerhouse of the cell.
The main function of the mitocondria is to convert food molecules to energy.
The Nucleus is the brain/control center of the cell.
The Nucleus contain the Chromosomes also known as the blueprints of the cell.
Ribosomes act like factories of a cell and produce proteins for the cells use.
The ribosomes are small grain-like structures that are found on the surface of the endoplasmic reticulum or floating in the cytoplasm.
Vacuoles are known as the storage area of cell.
Vacuoles can store water,food,and waste.
Plant Vacuoles are larger than animal cells.
has flagella
has no nucleus
shaped like oval
smaller than plant and animal cells.
shaped like a circle.
Does not have cell wall.
Doesn't have chloroplast.
all cells
goes through cell cycle
The Cell Cycle
The cell Cycle is what has to happen to make new cell.
The Cell Cycle is the regular sequence of growth and division that cells undergo.
The result of the cell division is two daughter cells are formed that are identical to each other.
to grow and develop new cells must be formed.
Cell Division is needed to repair damaged cells.
Cell must be worn out to reproduced.
shaped like rectangle
Has cell wall
Has chloroplast
cell tissue organ organ system
