Transcript of BUDAPEST

Budapest is the capital of Hungary; it is the country's principal political, cultural, commercial, industrial, and transportation centre.
Budapest is one of Europe's most delightful and enjoyable cities.
In 1987 Budapest was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List for the cultural and architectural significance of the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue. Although Budapest is administratively divided into 23 numbered districts:
Buda - The area west from the Danube;
Pest - The area east from the Danube.

The Budapest you'll see today is the result of many years of rich history, with traces of inhabitation dating back as far as the second millennium BC. Hungarian tribes arrived at the end of the ninth century and the Hungarian Kingdom was established in 1000. The city as we know it today was formed through the joining of Buda, Pest and Old Buda, back in 1873.
