Transcript of Values
What are your values?
In attempts to narrow down the list, eliminate 25 of the values from the handout in the next three (3) minutes.
Before we go any further...
Here's what the dictionary says...
"value |'val-yoos| (someone or something) that is considered to be important or beneficial;"
Let's narrow down...
In the next two (2) minutes, eliminate another 20 values from your handout's list.
Talk about the experience of eliminating values from the list
Was it difficult? Was it easy?
Let's Apply those Values
with Kelly & Doug
You walk to the park at the same time every day. Multiple times a week, you see the same pregnant woman sitting on a bench. Every time you see her, she is smoking a cigarette. Do you say something?
It’s a Friday afternoon and the biggest hurricane of the season is hitting the northeast. You're low on toilet paper so you go to the store to stock up. There is one roll left an elderly woman is going for it. Do you grab the last roll or do you let the woman take it?
You are buying your textbooks for the semester at the Co-op. While waiting in the checkout line, you notice a UConn basketball player slipping 3 textbooks from the shelf into their backpack. Would you report them?
A Local School Board is interviewing candidates for a new Physical Education Instructor. There are 6 total candidates – 2 Caucasian Males, 2 Caucasian Females, 1 African American Male, and 1 African American Female.
In order to “create an atmosphere of diversity at the school,” the principal decides to hire the Black Female despite her credentials (including her experience and her references) making her the least qualified for the job.
