Transcript of Physical Therapy
People go to Physical Therapy because of two different reasons. One being, having a disability or having behavior issues. Two being, having an injury. Some people have a permanent injury, this would be a disability. Someone who has a permanent injury has to continue Physical Therapy for their whole life span. Someone who has just an injury will only participate in Physical Therapy for a few weeks to a month or two.
What is Physical Therapy?

My experience with Physical Therapy
A few months ago I went to Physical Therapy. I went because of my right knee. I injured it while performing tricks in gymnastics. I went to the doctor and it turned out that I had growing pains in my knee. This type of injury was called " Patellofemoral pain syndrome" , also called Runner's knee. It was more common for myself to have this because I was active in a sport, while if I didn't take part in a sport there would have been a less chance of my getting this injury. I attended Physical Therapy in Orange at Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Center. I went to Physical Therapy for 2 months. I am now pain free, I can do all the flipping I want to!
There are many different types of Therapy. Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pediatric Therapy, Behavioral Therapy. I chose Physical Therapy because for a few months I was doing Physical Therapy. I will tell you about my experience with Physical Therapy in the next slide.
Physical Therapy is a type of treatment you may need when health problems make it hard to move around and do everyday tasks. It helps you move better and may relieve pain. Physical Therapy may also help you recover from a surgery.Your therapist examines you to find out what your goals are while in session. Physical Therapy includes exercises to strengthen your muscles to relive pain on your joints. These exercises will include weight lifting, walking, strengthening core and stretching. He/She may give you exercises to do at home if necessary.
