There are three key steps to better comprehension:
Identifying the Topic
Surveying the Text
Predicting what you'll learn
Can be stated in a short word or phrase
Answers the question, “What is it about?”
Often revealed during surveying and annotating
The topic is often in the title of the chapter
Subtopics are smaller topics and appear as subheads
Word or phrase should be “just right”
Think of an umbrella that needs to be "just the right size" to cover the necessary material.
