Similarities and Differences Fashion in the 1950's and Today Girls' School Outfits in the 50's Boys' School Outfits in the 50's Women's Hair Shoes "History repeats itself, always has, always will."
-Lorraine Quintier Boys' School Outfits Today Girls' School Outfits Today In the fifties, girls dressed in dresses, skirts,
blouses, and stand-up-collar shirts for school.
Wearing pants was greatly frowned upon and
was considerably unacceptable. Boys in the 1950's usually wore creased dress pants
with a belt and short sleeve or long sleeve shirts to
school. Suit jackets were even worn on occasion. When it was warm out, boys sometimes even wore shorts. Overall, looking nice was a must though. Then Now Then Now Today boys' style, like girls', is much more relaxed.
When going to school, boys wear jeans, shorts, basketball shorts, or even sweat pants along with a
t-shirt, brand name t-shirt, hoodie, sweater, or button-up. Dressing to impress and trying to look your best everyday is no longer as important as it was in the fifties. Nowadays, girls have much more freedom when
it comes to dressing for school. Dresses and skirts
are still worn but usually only for special occasions.
Jeans, although unheard of in the fifties, are very
popular. Most girls wear jeans, sweat pants, or yoga pants daily with brand name t-shirts, tank tops, blouses, or sweaters. 1950's Today * Bob

peep-toes mostly. Today women still wear skinny heels, stilettos, pumps, wedges, and peep-toes; however, flats, clogs, sandals, boots, and athletic shoes are also now worn. Men's shoes in the fifties were ankle boots, penny loafers, saddle shoes, creepers, chukka boots, and winklepickers. Men's shoes today still consist of loafers, but also include dress shoes, athletic shoes, sandals, high tops, and boots. As a whole, fashion has changed greatly since the 1950's, although many concepts and styles still remain. Constantly evolving, fashion will never remain the same for a long period of time. The styles will just continue to come and go. Thank you for watching!
