The water is clean and good for fish. The species that are found in great bear lake are: Trout, Arctic char,Arctic Grayling, and Lake White fish.Great Bear Lake has achieved more angling records than any other lake in North America. It is especially famous for its trout, and the world's biggest trout, weighing 65 pounds.

GREAT BEAR LAKE
Great Bear Lake is 413m deep, 320km long, and 175km wide.

Great Bear Lake is the largest lake that is completely within Canada, but has a smaller volume than Lakes Superior and Huron. largest in North America and 9th in the world.

the coordinates are 66N and 121W ,
and is located in Fortsmith and Inuvik regions
in the Northwest Territories.

population: population of only 500 people.

The first known European establishment on Great Bear Lake was constructed by Alexander Mackenzie 1799 for the North -West fur company. But before the europeans set foot on this land it was used by indian tribes called Chipewyan.
