What is energy auditing?
a technical check of energy use, as in a home or factory, to monitor and evaluate consumption.
How do you do an energy audit?
Beef up your resume with some diversity!
The Green Campus Program works with universities and colleges across California to help campuses save money, reduce energy and water usage and embrace sustainability.
Events (e.g. Speaker Series)
Increase visibility (marketing)
Student body (ASI sustainability chair)
Create Commissioner of Sustainability position
Environmental, social, and economic processes that enable future generations to meet their own needs
Schools have sustainable regulations and policys that they strive to meet and you are in the perfect position to help the campus comply
Students should hold the campus accountable for complying with sustainability policy
You are the voice!
Don't reinvent the wheel, use what we've done!

Makes a large impact on the environment and your health by reducing emissions
step 1: EVALUATE EXISTING ENERGY CONSUMPTION
step 2: IDENTIFY SAVINGS MEASURES
step 3: REPORT RESULTS
step 4: INSTALL, ENABLE, EDUCATE ON SAVINGS MEASURES
step 5: FOLLOW-UP
How do you measure use?
Watts (W) and kilowatts (kW) measure power, or the rate at which electrical work is performed.
Watt-hours (Wh) and kilowatt-hours (kWh) measure energy, or the quantity of electricity used.
Demand is measured in watts.
Consumption is measured in watt hours.
Estimate how many hours a day the device is used in a given period of time such as one month. Multiply this by kilowatts to determine kilowatt-hours (kWh).
W/1000 x hours of use = kWh

Upgrades and Retrofits
ZERO NET ENERGY
Achieve campus zero net energy through renewable energy generation by 2020.
50% BY 2010
Maximize energy efficiency in building design and operations - with an initial goal to consume half the energy and demand of other University buildings in California and exceed Title 24 by 30% in all new buildings by 2010.
Achieve zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2020, prioritizing on-site and regional offsets.
