“and so it was decreed, that each year the twelve districts of Panem shall offer up in tribute one young man and woman, between the ages of 12 and 18, to be trained in the art of survival, and to be prepared to fight to the death.” A loud echoed voice of an authority figure of Panem gives a speech near the end of the trailer: Second tribute for district 12 The music grows stronger (more instruments added) as the trailer goes on, also like the trailer develops more as it too continues on during this speech, the tributes are shown in many different flashing scenes of them preparing for the hunger games This genre holds the title of science fiction which means a made up movie that has scientific advances used in society that are not available in our time. For example, dresses having the ability to be on fire, and a soceity that forces 12 to 18 year olds to fight for their lives Adventure/Action Utopian and Dystopian Fiction When a movie is set in a "perfect world" it is know to be utopian , whereas dystopian movies have a opposite set that the world is nightmarish. This film has both, ie. Panem and the 12 districts Adventurous films contain a lot of physical actions, and danger. These films tend to hype people up with an adrenaline rush because of all the possibilities of something bad happening. Action plays much apart of this rush as well, films that contain an action genre involves the thrill of survival and heroism with action intensified. Katniss (main character) volunteers to fight for her life The trailer shows Katniss's sister getting choosing for the hunger games Gale says, "all they want is a good show" scenes of katniss dressed up Katniss tells her sister she isn't going to get picked Shows a scene of her getting her legs waxed a guy says, "Im here to make you make a good impression" Such as like most trailers, an effective way to understand the plot across is to tell than show. Appearances and image Competition Strength and skill Love Closing it up Shows Katniss perspective of things give the audience that sense of hopefulness for her struggles 10.....9....8....7.....6.....5....4.....3....2.....1 A sudden countdown Ending the trailer with the start of the hunger games really brings that suspense and pushes audience to watch it because they want to know what happens The last scene gives the audience the title of the movie with the tag line, "may the odds ever be in your favor" This tagline excites the readers of the trilogy, for that line is used continously throughout the book Audiences May the odds ever be in your favor right before the countdown of the Hunger games, parts of this tagline flash in bold letters following flashes of Katniss interacting with the guards, her sister, and another district.
