What is the biggest difference between online learning and in-class learning?
In an online environment, reading and writing are the most critical ways to share information.

How long are online classes?
Online classes are offered in 7 or 15-week formats.
Three semesters and six blocks are offered each academic year (fall, spring and summer).

Are online courses self-paced?
Courses are delivered on the block or semester schedule and students are expected to participate three to five days a week in the discussion board or other weekly assignments.
How does Wilmington University prepare Staff and Students for
Online Learning?

Students need to learn how to use Blackboard.
Online and Hybrid students are required to take "DIS095 Online Orientation for Students."

Instructors have three ways to take Blackboard Training:
1. Complete Online - Self Paced Training.
2. Attend Face to Face (Basic and Advanced) Training.
3. Attend an Online Webinar, then complete all activities in a practice course.
Requirement to teach Online: Instructors MUST complete HOT (Hybrid Online Training)

Our Learning Management System is Blackboard
Blackboard Collaborate allows instructors to host virtual office hours and virtual class sessions.
