Transcript of solar system

Earth is the only planet with water and the only one that has life that we know of. It is 70% water. Earth is not perfectly round even though it looks like in space.
Mercury is a rocky sphere, with a huge iron core. It is very hot, but it doesn't have a viable atmosphere. It has no natural satellites. It has a lot of craters because it doesn't have a good enough atmosphere to protect itself.

The sun is a star. It is the biggest thing in our solar system. It is the center of the our solar system. It is were we get our heat. It heats all of the planets.
If you weighed a 100 lb on Venus you would weigh 88 lb.
Venus is 650 miles smaller than Earth.
Its rotation would be 243 Earth days, and around the Sun would be 225 Earth days. Venus is about 26 billion miles away from Earth, and from the Sun is 67.24 billion miles away.
Venus is also known as "the Morning Star".
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system. It was named after the Roman gods' king because of its size. It is so big 1,300 Earths can fit in it. Jupiter is many colors but the Great Red Spot is the most popular. It is a storm the size of the whole Earth.
solar system
The sun is diameter 1,391,000 km
The suns composition is hydrogen, helium, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, silicon, magnesium, Neon, iron, sulfur.
It takes the sun 27 Earth days to have a full rotation.
The sun is one out of a billion stars. the sun is about at its middle of it life. The suns surface is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Its core is 27 million degrees Fahrenheit.

Mercury can get to 950 degrees Fahrenheit and on the dark side it can get -350 degrees Fahrenheit.
It is the closet planet to the sun. It is also the smallest planet.
It is the fastest planet to go around the sun.
Venus is a rocky, water
less planet that has a lot
of mountains and canyons. It is the second planet to the sun. It has volcano's, all over the planet, with a lava river that runs 200 miles. The planets core is just like earths, it has a thick layer around the iron core. It's surface temperature is over 400 degrees, caused by all the green house effect. Venus doesn't have any moons, and no natural satellites, and no rings.

Earth is 92.9 million miles from the Sun.
Earth's diameter is 7,926.2 miles
Earth is made of iron, 32% oxygen, 30% silicon,15% magnesium, 14% sulfur,3% nickel 2% of calcium and other elements.
Earth is the third planet from the Sun
their are 4 planets smaller then Earth and 4 planets bigger then Earth
there is 24 hours in one day on Earth
There are 365 days on a regular year on Earth.
Earth has 1 moon
Earth doesn't have any rings
the Temperature range on Earth matters on were you are because earth is on a tilt.
The atmosphere of Earth is 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen and other gases.
A 100 pound person on Earth would weigh 100 pounds.
Earth is the only planet in are solar system that has life and water.
Earth was formed about 4.54 billion years ago.
Earth is the only planet not named after a god.
70% of Earth is is covered by water.
Jupiter 483.88 miles a way from the Sun.
Jupiter's diameter is 88,736 miles from the Sun.
Jupiter's composition is hydrogen and helium

Jupiter's temperature is usually -234 Fahrenheit.
Jupiter's atmosphere is whirling clouds of colored dust, hydrogen, helium, methane, water, and ammonia.
on Jupiter a 100 pound person on Earth, would weigh 265 pounds.

Jupiter's largest moon, Ganymede is larger then Mercury.
Jupiter is the third brightest planet in our solar system.
Asteroids are a metallic objects that orbit the sun in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Some of the asteroids approach the Sun more closely. There are no asteroids that have an atmosphere.
It is the size of half of Earth. It's temp. can get as low as 305 Fahrenheit, Its spins on its axis for 24 Earth days:37 minutes, and 23 seconds.
Asteroids are made of rock, metals, and other elements some asteroids have water in them.
Asteroids are mostly in the asteroid belt, but some are in floating in our solar system.
The closest asteroids are 186 million miles and 360 million miles away.
There are 40,000 asteroids that we know of.
The biggest asteroid is Ceres, the second is Vesta.
Mars is a red planet and
forth planet from the sun
full of dunes, canyons, and
volcano's all over the surface.
It has polar ice caps of frozen
water. Carbon dioxide is 95%
of the other chemicals in the
air. It is 35 million miles away from Earth, and its 141.71 miles away from the Sun. It has 2
satellites. It takes 687 Earth days to
rotate around the Sun.

Asteroids and planets are alike. Planets are made of asteroids. Asteroids are made of many different minerals and substances. Most asteroids are covered by dust, called regolith.
Nearly everything in our solar system is formed by impacted events including Earth.
A comets are a small icy celestial body that orbits the Sun. It is made of a nucleus (solid frozen ice, gas, and dust), and a gaseous tail made of dust and ionized gases,(water vapor, C02 and other gases.) The tail forms when the comet is near the sun.
Comets are made of loose collections of ice, dust and small rocky particles, ranging from a few kilometers to tens of kilometers across.
The comets usually between the Oort cloud.
There are so many comets that astronomers can't count them.
The parts of comets are nucleus, gaseous comma, and a long tail.

Uranus is a greenish-blue color. It is twice as far from the Sun as its neighbor, Saturn. It wasn't discovered until 1781.
Uranus is 1,783.98 million miles a way from the Sun.
Uranus's diameter is 32,193 miles.
Uranus is mostly composed of various ices, like water, ammonia and methane.
Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun.
Uranus is the third biggest planet.
Uranus's day is 17 hours.
Uranus's year is 84 Earth years.
Uranus has 27 moons
Uranus has 11 rings
If you were 100 pound you would weigh 88.9 pounds.
interesting Facts
on Uranus
Uranus is the coldest planet in our solar system.3. Summer on Uranus lasts one long day – 42 Earth years. Uranus was the first to be discovered in the modern days. you can see Uranus with just your eyes.

Saturn is the second largest planet, it is the
6Th planet from the sun. It is known as the
Roman god of farming. It is surrounded of
rings made out ice particles and junk from
satellites. It is ten times the size of earth, it's
surface is liquid and gas. Its atmosphere is
mostly made out of hydrogen and helium.
It is between 180 degrees and 178 degrees.
It rotates on it's axis for 10 hours, 40 min,
and 24 sec. It takes 29 1/2 Earth years to
rotate around the sun. If you weighed 100
pounds on Earth you would weigh 107 LB on
Saturn has 31 satellites and is
887.14 million miles away
from the sun, 774 million
miles away from Earth.
Neptune is a big, blue planet that is 4 times as big as Earth. It has a liquid layer covered with a thick layer of clouds. Its atmosphere is made of hydrogen, helium, methane, and ammonia. It can get to -353 degrees F. Its rotation around its axis is 16 hours and 7 min. It takes 165 Earth years to make its revolution! Your weight is unknown for this planet.
Its 2,680,000,000 miles from Earth, and from the sun it 2,796,46. million miles away from the sun. It has 13 Satillites and 4 rings around made out of ice particles.
Pluto is the coldest, smallest planet in
our Solar System. It is the a Greek god, of the underworld. Pluto is the only planet that has never been closely studied by space probes. It one moon called"Charon", are double planets because Pluto's moon is bigger than Pluto. During its orbit around he sun, it go's onto Neptune's orbit for 20 year's, making Neptune the out most planet for that time.
Pluto is one-fifth the size of Earth. Its surface is made out of a giant snowball of methane and
Pluto's moon
water mixed with rock. Its atmosphere is methane, and the rotation around the sun is 248 Earth years. Around the Earth would be 6 days, 19 hours, and 18 minutes. Your weight is unknown for this planet. It is 2.67. million miles away at the closest from Earth. It is 3.666. million miles away from the sun. It has 1 satillite's, and rings are unknown.
Meteorites are basically shooting stars that streak across the sky. They are just dust particles that enter our atmosphere. Their like pebbles or grains, even sand from the beach. A Meteorites are rocks that survive through Earth atmosphere and hit Earth.
Meteors come mostly from broken up asteroids.
A Meteor can be as small as a pebble or the size of a giant boulder. A meteor is a matter that enters Earths atmosphere.
Scientists estimate that 1,000 tons to more than 10,000 tons of meteoric material falls on the Earth each day. However, most of this material is very tiny - in the form of micrometeoroids or dust-like grains a few micrometers in size. These particles are so tiny that the air resistance is enough to slow them sufficiently that they do not burn up, so they hurtle to Earth.
Meteorites may look very much like Earth rocks, or they may have a burned appearance. They may be dense metallic chunks or more rocky. Some may have thumbprint-like depressions, roughened or smooth exteriors. They vary in size from micrometer size grains to large individual boulders. The largest individual iron is the Hoba meteorite from southwest Africa which has a mass of about 54,000 kg. The stones are much smaller, the largest falling in Norton County, Kansas having a mass of about 1,000 kg.
Dwarf planets
A Dwarf planet is too small to be a
planet and too big to be a space rock.
Our solar system has 3 Dwarf planets,
Ceres, Pluto, and Eris. Ceres was the
first Dwarf planet to be discovered, It
has a thin atmosphere, and gravity.
The second was Puto,

but its orbit crosses the Kuiper Belt in the same way that Ceres moves among asteroids within the asteroid belt making Pluto a dwarf planet.
The last dwarf planet is Eris which is also the largest and coldest dwarf planet and was discovered in 2005 beyond the orbit of Pluto.
The Asteroid Belt
An asteroid is a large rock in outer space. Some, like Ceres, can be very large, while others are as small as a grain of sand. Due to their smaller size, asteroids do not have enough gravity to pull themselves into the shape of a ball. Astronomers group asteroids into different categories based on the way they reflect sunlight.
The asteroid belt is divided into an inner belt and an outer belt. The inner belt, which is made up of asteroids that are within 250 million miles (402 million km) of the Sun, contains asteroids that are made of metals.

The outer belt, which includes asteroids 250 million miles (402 million km) beyond the Sun, consists of rocky asteroids. These asteroids appear darker than the asteroids of the inner belt, and are rich in carbon.
