Earth is the only planet with water and the only one that has life that we know of. It is 70% water. Earth is not perfectly round even though it looks like in space.
Mercury is a rocky sphere, with a huge iron core. It is very hot, but it doesn't have a viable atmosphere. It has no natural satellites. It has a lot of craters because it doesn't have a good enough atmosphere to protect itself.
The sun is a star. It is the biggest thing in our solar system. It is the center of the our solar system. It is were we get our heat. It heats all of the planets.
If you weighed a 100 lb on Venus you would weigh 88 lb.
Venus is 650 miles smaller than Earth.
Its rotation would be 243 Earth days, and around the Sun would be 225 Earth days. Venus is about 26 billion miles away from Earth, and from the Sun is 67.24 billion miles away.
Venus is also known as "the Morning Star".
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system. It was named after the Roman gods' king because of its size. It is so big 1,300 Earths can fit in it. Jupiter is many colors but the Great Red Spot is the most popular. It is a storm the size of the whole Earth.

our Solar System. It is the a Greek god, of the underworld. Pluto is the only planet that has never been closely studied by space probes. It one moon called"Charon", are double planets because Pluto's moon is bigger than Pluto. During its orbit around he sun, it go's onto Neptune's orbit for 20 year's, making Neptune the out most planet for that time.
Pluto is one-fifth the size of Earth. Its surface is made out of a giant snowball of methane and
water mixed with rock. Its atmosphere is methane, and the rotation around the sun is 248 Earth years. Around the Earth would be 6 days, 19 hours, and 18 minutes. Meteorites are basically shooting stars that streak across the sky. They are just dust particles that enter our atmosphere. Their like pebbles or grains, even sand from the beach. A Meteorites are rocks that survive through Earth atmosphere and hit Earth.
Meteors come mostly from broken up asteroids.
A Meteor can be as small as a pebble or the size of a giant boulder. A meteor is a matter that enters Earths atmosphere.
Scientists estimate that 1,000 tons to more than 10,000 tons of meteoric material falls on the Earth each day. However, most of this material is very tiny - in the form of micrometeoroids or dust-like grains a few micrometers in size. These particles are so tiny that the air resistance is enough to slow them sufficiently that they do not burn up, so they hurtle to Earth.
Meteorites may look very much like Earth rocks, or they may have a burned appearance. They may be dense metallic chunks or more rocky. Some may have thumbprint-like depressions, roughened or smooth exteriors. They vary in size from micrometer size grains to large individual boulders. The largest individual iron is the Hoba meteorite from southwest Africa which has a mass of about 54,000 kg. The stones are much smaller, the largest falling in Norton County, Kansas having a mass of about 1,000 kg.
A Dwarf planet is too small to be a
planet and too big to be a space rock.
Our solar system has 3 Dwarf planets,
Ceres, Pluto, and Eris. Ceres was the
first Dwarf planet to be discovered, It
has a thin atmosphere, and gravity.
The second was Puto,
but its orbit crosses the Kuiper Belt in the same way that Ceres moves among asteroids within the asteroid belt making Pluto a dwarf planet.
The last dwarf planet is Eris which is also the largest and coldest dwarf planet and was discovered in 2005 beyond the orbit of Pluto.
The Asteroid Belt
An asteroid is a large rock in outer space. Some, like Ceres, can be very large, while others are as small as a grain of sand. Due to their smaller size, asteroids do not have enough gravity to pull themselves into the shape of a ball. Astronomers group asteroids into different categories based on the way they reflect sunlight.
The asteroid belt is divided into an inner belt and an outer belt. The inner belt, which is made up of asteroids that are within 250 million miles (402 million km) of the Sun, contains asteroids that are made of metals.
The outer belt, which includes asteroids 250 million miles (402 million km) beyond the Sun, consists of rocky asteroids. These asteroids appear darker than the asteroids of the inner belt, and are rich in carbon.
