The Mystery of the Ivory Charm
Author: Carolyn Keene
Nancy Drew: An 18 year old detective
George and Bess: Nancy’s best friends who help her in the mystery
Rishi: A 12 year old boy from India, works at a circus with Rai
Rai: Rishi’s guardian, and is a member of the circus

Rishi is treated poorly by his guardian, Rai. Rishi runs away from his abusive guardian and seeks asylum at the Drew home in River Heights.
Rishi tells Nancy about his life, and Nancy finds out that Rai is not his real father. Rishi says that before his mother died, she told him that his real father lives in River Heights.
Nancy agrees to help Rishi find his father. They find an Indian man but his neighbors say he was on a trip to India, and would come back after several weeks.
The girls (Nancy, George and Bess) begin investigating property owned by the unusual Mrs. Anita Allison. They encounter a house "with no insides," and a hidden tunnel.
The property mysteriously catches fire, revealing a hidden cache of jewels.
Nancy traces Rishi's parentage and uncovers a sinister kidnapping plot involving both Mrs. Allison and Rai. The climax also reveals a secret about the ivory charm, and its mysterious powers.

Rishi hates Rai because he is mean to him, and is desperate to find his true father. He is glad when Nancy comes to help him.
