Donna Kuczynski - skype calls, 42 reasons for teaching storytelling
How did Storytelling began?
Began with the human speech
people sat in circles and it was a way of people getting together.
Egyptians were the first people to register written stories
Romans spread the stories
Royalty had their storytellers.
Choose your story
Study it/capture its meaning
Prepare the introduction
Practice the sequencing of events
Conclude the story
" The schools end up teaching children that writing is drawing letters, when in fact the concept of writing is the process of being able to register and express information, ideas and feelings" (pg. 27)
"According to Froebel spontaneity is a fundamental element in early childhood learning process. The child establishes a spontaneous relation with the objects, acknowledging similarities, imitating, and associating concepts. Symbolic games allow the young child to transit from the imaginary to the real world with freedom" (pg. 78)
--Linguagens infantis, outras formas de leitura
First books that were created from Storytelling:
" The greatest challenge in Early childhood Education is not teaching children how to draw or blends letters to form words and yet to offer them conditions for their plain development into critical social beings" (p.20)

According to Donna Kuczynski

Its a way of sharing time with a child teaching the value of imagination
Storytelling is portable, cheap, and fun
Its a way to convey imagination more than information
