different solvents on different surfaces.
This can help others to see what solvents they can use to remove permanent marker from their items. Hypothesis I believe that permanent markers will remove from the different surfaces using different solvents. Materials 2 sandwhich size ziploc bags
1 (9"x12") white fabric felt
1"x2' wood
1 red sharpie brand permanent marker
1 black sharpie brand permanent marker
1 red BIC brand permanent marker
1 black BIC brand permanent marker
1 timer
24 ml. of Baby Oil
12 ml of Tide detergent
.12 alcohol pads

Procedure Step 1: Gather all materials Step 2: Test red sharpie brand P.M. on plastic ziploc bag by drawing filled in circle on bag. Let P.M. sit for 5 minutes. Then pour 2 ml. baby oil directly onto plastic. Immediately wipe off
with white cotton cloth using circular motion
for 20 seconds pressed lightly.This removed sharpie P.M. 3.Test black sharpie P.M. opposing side of ziploc plastic bag. Same procedure as step 2. Black sharpie was removed.

4.Test red BIC P.M. on plastic.
Did not remove after 20 seconds. Took approx. 35 seconds to remove. 5.Test black bic on plastic
same procedure as step 2
didnt remove after 20 seonds
took approx. 40 secs to remove. Procedure 6. Test sharpie brand permanent marker on plastic ziplock bag.
Let sit for 5 minutes. Then pour 1ml of tide detergent directly on bag. Immediately wipe off with white cotton cloth using circular motion for approximate 20 seconds. Press mildly. The marker was not removed after 20 seconds or even 1 minute. 7.Test red sharpie brand

by following same procedure
in step 6. The marker was not removed after 20 sec nor 30 sec.

8. Test black bic brand marker on plastic ziplock bag. Use same procedure as in step 6. The marker was not removed after 20 sec nor after 1 min.

9. Test red bic brand marker on plastic ziplock bag by using same procedure as in step 6. The marker was not removed after 30 sec. 10. Test red sharpie brand marker on plastic bag by drawing filled in circle on bag. Let sit for 5 min. Then using alcohol pad saturated with 70% isopropyl alcohol gently wipe off bag using circular motion for
approximately 20 sec. The marker was removed after 10 sec. 11. Test black sharpie
brand marker on
plastic bag by using
same procedure as in step 10. The marker was removed after 5 sec. 12. Test red bic brand marker on plastic bag using same procedure as in step 10. The marker was removed after 5 sec. 13.Test black bic marker
on plastic bag using same
procedure as in step 10.
The marker was removed
after 5 sec.


17. Test black bic brand marker on white cloth felt using same procedure as in step 14. The marker was not removed after 20 sec. 18. Test red sharpie brand marker on white cloth felt by drawing filled in circle on cotton felt. Let sit for 5 min. Pour 1ml of tide detergent directly on cloth felt over marker. The marker was not removed after 20 sec. 15. Test black sharpie brand marker on white cloth felt using same procedure as in step 14. The marker was not removed after 20 sec. cloth felt. Let sit for 5 min. Then pour 2ml of baby oil directly on cotton felt.. Immediately wipe cloth felt using with cotton cloth. Rub in circular motion for approximately 20 sec. The marker was not removed after 20 sec. The marker appears to smear. 14. Test red sharpie brand marker on white 16. Test red bic brand marker on white cloth felt using same procedure as in step 14. The marker was not removed after 20 sec.
