Lux meaning light. This character has the special capability of night vision which is also known as an ocular funtion called oculux. Oculux What is Oculux? How does Oculux work?
Wavelength less than 420 nm enter the eye they pass through the retina to the back of the eye where they go through the rods and cones. Light is absorbed by the photons that convert the light waves into electrical stimulus, and then they go through the layers of the retina starting with the ganglion cells to the amacrine cells, bipolar cells, horizontal cells, and then to the rods and cones and out the optic nerve to the occipital lobe in the brain. to stimulate night vision, the environmental stimulus that the eye focuses on must recieve no more than 420nm of light. When light < 420nm enters the eye through the lens and cornea, it is not intense enough to stimulate the visual system. Instead low intensity light-waves stimulate the oculux system in the retina. This is where the process of oculux begins. Light that enters the rod passes through photoreceptors in the outer segment. Here light is tranduced. Electrical signals are then sent to the brain through a pathway of neurons. Light passes through the cell layers of the retina; through ganglion cells, then amacrine cells, bipolar cells, then horizontal cells, and to the rods. Instead of light reaching the retina (like in normal circumstances), the small amount of light is absorbed by the lucifretina. The lucifretina consists of the same type of cells found in the retina. However, the cell layers are more sensitive to low amounts of light (λ < 420nm). It is a bioeletrochemical process that starts from a stimulus in the environment.
