Delivering needed materials,
Removing waste products
Fighting diseases

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are serious conditions;
Person is so preoccupied with food and weight
Mental disorders.
Highest death rate
Serious phsyical problems.
Need treatment Types of Eating Disorders:
Anorexia
Bulimia
Compulsive Eating
Compulsive Exercise
EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified) Anorexia Nervosa:
*Self-induced
*Starvation.
*Denies their body's hunger signals
*"In control"
*Goal is to be thin.
*See"fat" in the mirror
* Body dysmorphia
*Not a diet
*Not a choice
*Mental disorder Bulimia Nervosa:
Binge and then purge.
Eat because they of an emotion
Not be able to stop.
Guilt = purging
Rip your stomach and esophagus
Leave ulcers
Damage your heart
More commen than anorexic
Equally as dangerous
Eating disorder vocabulary:
Binge
Purge
Fasting
Restricting
Over Exercise Compulsive Eating:
Like bulimia,but without purging
Eat uncontrollably,
Very large amounts of food
Overwhelming emotions.
Compulsive eaters are usually overweight, but not always. Compulsive exercise:
Form of purging.

Beyond their body's limit in an effort Usually accompanies another eating
disorder, but not always. EDNOS
(Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specificied)
EDNOS is an eating disorder just as
serious as any other one
Person has some symptoms of an eating disorder, but not all of them.
EDNOS basically combines any eating disorders, or doesn't have all the symptoms of one eating disorder.
However, EDNOS is still equally as dangerous and damaging as all other eating disorders. Mindset:
Anorexics are not just underweight
people.
Being underweight doesn't make you anorexic, and being anorexic does not mean you are underweight.
Any eating disorder, you can be underweight, of normal weight, or overweight. Eating disorders are all in the mindset: How you see yourself, how you feel about yourself, and how you feel about food.
Someone can look perfectly normal and still be suffering from an eating disorder. Reasons for:
Emotions
Pressure to be thin
Being uncomfortable with your body image
Other underlying mental disorders
Effects of Eating Disorders:
Ulcers
Osteoporosis
Intestinal problems
Ripped stomach/throat
Yellowed teeth
Thinned hair
Low temperature
Lanugo
Slow/irregular heartrate Eating disorders
Can affect the heart's
pacemaker.
Body functions with nutrients.
Body begins to run on adrenaline instead
Pacemaker can be especially damaged by
eating disorders.
Surgery sometimes even has to be done
